Many people associate the classic Trench Coat with the luxury label Burberry. Designed during the First World War by Thomas Burberry, it was to protect the troops from rain and wind while they were in the trenches. Aquascutum designed a similar coat during the Crimean War which is even earlier than WW1. The military styling of these coats remain very popular today and are now an essential item for many men and women. These days, Burberry and Aquascutum are no longer the only sources of this key functional fashionable item that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Commonly worn in Spring and Fall, this style of outerwear goes with anything and is available at every price point. Although available in virtually every color, it is recommended to start off with camel/khaki or black if buying in the luxury market to ensure you get the most out of your purchase.
When looking to buy a trench coat, it should be, at the very least, waterproof and breathable. They are available in short, knee length and midi versions depending on need and taste.
