With Groundhog Day fast approaching, it appears that many fashionistas have already waved goodbye to winter and moved on to spring! As a stopgap while we wait for the official start of spring, mules are now increasingly being worn on the streets by discerning ladies and gents. Over the years, the popularity of this backless footwear has confounded some but to others, it's seen as chic in some quarters while others see it as an expression of ultimate casualness. Almost every type of shoe has a mule version (e.g. sneakers, loafers, pumps etc) ensuring that there is something to match everyone's style. Comfort should be your watchword when selecting a pair as the backless design offers no support and you need to be confident that you can walk in your chosen pair. Mules can be either heeled or flat but it must be noted that how they are styled is key to how good they look.
Mules can be worn with cropped pants, shorts, skirts, dresses or jeans. In cold weather, closed toe mules can be worn with tights for added warmth. If you are worried about walking in a heeled pair, opt for wedged mules. Bright colored mules are a great way of showing your fun side. Bedazzled mules can be worn formally and you can relax in backless sneakers worn with athleisure gear. Trending this spring are two toned mules which should make for some interesting outfits.
